Universal Rocks Leather Tag Mould

Client: Universal Rocks, Mortdale NSW

Job Requirements: Working from a colour print, the client required a Silicone mould to simulate a 3D simulated flexible leather tag to attach to identify the firms fountains, rocks and ponds sold in the US market place.

Job Progress:
Computer- We commenced by scanning in the colour print and then proceeded to give the artwork the required third dimensional appearance - raising the map of Australia, the leather stitching on the perimeter and the lettering on the map - while cutting all other wording into the surface.
We then worked up a leather texture and laid it over the non-map areas.

CNC Machining- We selected a fine grained timber to make our mould master and produced a 3D master mould.

Mould Making- The timber master being a porous timber was sealed prior to the manufacture of the silicone mould. We have developed a kit that explains exactly how we make this type of mould called a flat backed, one piece, block mould. This kit will be released shortly and will be available from our Ebay store and from our online mould shop. Keep checking the website for updates.
This is probable the commonest and simplest type of mould to make and is a good starting point for mould making.
